St. Stephens Indian Mission hasn't undertaken any renovations
to the church since the monumental three-stage remodeling project of 1995-1996. Phase one of the project focused on
the renovation of the church interior; the deteriorated church windows were the focal point of phase two and phase three of
this endeavor rejuvenated the exterior of the church with fresh paint and symbols.
But early in the spring of 2005, a slow, but disastrous process began within
St. Stephens Church. The walls of the church slowly began to discolor and look like they were being smoked. It
wasn't from "fire and brimstone" being preached from the pulpit, it was a crack in the old boiler that heated the church.
By the time the problem was pinpointed, the damage had been done.
The refurbishing process was long and tedious, but St. Stephens Church
has been renewed once again. It is an artistically inspirational place for people who worship here.
